An Introduction to Thelema Abbey: On the Golden Dawn of love, eroticism, Thelemic Revolution and “Machinima” in Second Life.

Second Life is essentially about the world of the human mind, unfettered by constraints and social norms.

In the adult regions of Second Life, one can explore every possible fantasy and desire; one can be a male, a female, a hermaphrodite, a demon or demoness, a god or a goddess, or a vast variety of animals and animated creatures.

Above: Giving some love at Thelema Abbey in 2010.

Second Life is not an impersonal game; it is an exploration of human sexual psychology and of love; one’s own sexual psychology and that of others. Behind every avatar there are “real world” human souls with whom you can explore your every fantasy, and even your every nightmare.

Above: Lucifer giving some love at Thelema Abbey 2012

Many of the avatars in Second Life are anonymous avatars who do not give away their real life identity; whereas others have profiles with their real life photographs, web addresses and various personal information. For the latter variety of persons, it is much more like a mixture of a social networking and adult contact site; and some mix real life with second life; their Second Life friends and lovers becoming real life friends and lovers; while others simply use the virtual world for anonymous erotic exploration.

Thelema Abbey is a multi level sim spanning over 15 levels of Temples and gardens in two different locations; it is all publicly accessible, though some secret areas have to be discovered, and nowhere is private; everywhere is public. Nothing is forbidden except forbiddance.

No formal Pagan rituals take place in the Abbey in the traditional sense of a “rite,” apart from of course the “Great Rite,” which is simply about “sacred” orgiastic sex with priests and priestesses of love; a term which should define us all really, as human beings are generally devotees of love. The Abbey is simply a place of total erotic freedom where others may “do as they will.” The only the religion is the worship and desire of other human souls.

Above: one of the old Thelema Abbey Designs’ sims (Tantra Heaven) in 2010

The main sim in the adult region is a non commercial sim and nothing is bought and sold there; the Thelema Abbey Second Life group costs nothing to join; group membership is not required to access the many levels of the sim, and nothing is ever requested of a group member; it is simply a social networking group.

Above: the goddess Venus giving some love at the Thelema Abbey dungeon complex.

There are no leaders and no followers, and nobody is really in charge; I am merely the sim architect and content creator. As “Babalon (the Scarlet woman)” I  am servant to all and lover of all.

Above: Aphrodite and Hermaphrodite at Thelema Abbey in 2010.

The Thelema Abbey sim is mostly attractive to and frequented by those of a bisexual, pansexual, polysexual or transgender nature.

The sim is an essentially a series of erotic temples, and the artwork, BDSM furniture and GLBT and BDSM sex films constantly showing would certainly not appeal to heterosexuals (assuming that there even is such a genre of human beings, in the world of the mind).

Many Second Life residents have multiple avatars and explore role play as different genders, sexualities and avatar personalities; this kind of experimentation is of course encouraged in the sim; if a person is male but has a female avatar, for example, I address them as a female. This is simply politeness and political correctness; role play is role play and whatever the person wants to be in their mind is a representation of part of their true selves. One’s “real” personna in the “real” world is often, for many, a personna confined by social restraints and the expectations of the surrounding society; it is often a “repressed” personna, whereas the virtual personna can be a representation of the person’s “true will;” of their inner erotic fantasy world and “true desire.”

Personally I have always been bisexual since my teens, and I am totally polysexual in the real world; irrespective of gender, love is love and eroticism is eroticism, and both genders seek to love and to be loved, and in the erotice sense, to desire and to be desired. All are lovable who seek to love and to be loved. Pleasure is pleasure and it is entwined with emotional love. Narrow is the path to heaven on earth. Wide is the path to psychological hell; and we all live on earth and in the world of the mind.

All my avatars can and do transform from male to female, and from gods and goddeses into demons and demonesses.

It seems to me that the religious fanatics have a “crucifixion” fetish. In order for their primitive and fictional Bronze age gods to love someone, they have to torture a fictional person, crucify them and kill them. The devotees of the Biblical gods seem to “love” very, very nasty gods. I cannot compete with their nastiness. They (the Bible gods) just don’t seem to like human beings and human sexual freedom.

Why kill something so beautiful?

Prometheus lives; he is not just a fictional character. Behind almost every SL avatar (there are a few bots who are easily recognisable), there is a RL person who wishes to love and to be loved. An essense of humanism is love between human beings; the rebellion against primitive and invisible sky gods  is essential to human salvation.

Just think of my many Temples and what would happen to you there, and just let your fantasy world take over. Going to “church (i.e., a Temple)” in SL is all about love and erotic exploration.

My six avatars are Venus, Lucifer, Isis, Prometheus, Aphrodite, and Hermaphrodite. These are like my “actors” on the stage of Second Life, but the act is not fictional, it is an expression of the inner world of erotic fantasy.

Since Venus is a content creator in Second Life, my other avatars allow me to travel and befriend others without getting into various technical discussions and technical support issues.

I can also transform convincingly from one gender to another in real life; at least in terms of my appearance, and the experiences of both erotic domination and submission enthrall me in the real world, though psychologically I have a rebellious, Anarchistic and non submissive personality.

Above: the young Venus as a newcomer to Second Life in 2009.

The slave collar worn by the young Venus above is not merely a decoration; the collar contains complex scripting (programming); a person wearing an “open collar” set to “open access” with an RLV viewer (Google the term) can be grabbed by a dominant and can be stripped, forced to kneel, humiliated and forced to beg and perform sex acts; they can be caged, restrained from teleporting (changing location), force teleported, their personal messaging system can by cut off, they can be bound and caged; they can also be tied to a post and left in a public area for the pleasure of any passing avatar to use and humiliate; the leashholder can also just pass on the leash to any passing stranger. It is however a very “safe” way to explore the psychology of D/S relationships.

Venus and Lucifer (Lucifer’s tale is another adventure) began their journey as Second Life virgins in 2009. Venus jumped into the world of the adult regions of Second Life and began as a BDSM slave girl, and at other times a dominatrix in the realms of Second Life Femdom; at other times a lesbian lover or (as Lucifer) a gay male befriending guys in the Second Life cruising grounds, and also also as straight male having romantic and erotic adventures with girls.

It was an exciting new experience to have erotic experiences with different people in a wonderful new world, and I found the emotions overpowering and myself falling in love with often several people at the same time; irrespective of their gender.

The adult regions of SL are heaven for the polyamorist (many loves) and I would imagine that they would be a definition of hell for the monogamists and religious fanatics.

Initiation: a personal story.

My first experiences in the adult regions were as a totally anonymous avatar who would sometimes be male and sometimes be female, and I attempted to explore everything in the world of SL BDSM; in the process making many new friends. I found the experience to be psychologically overwhelming. I began to change my sleeping hours to the American time zone, and I would wake up from sleep, my dream world having been taken over by my virtual world experiences, thinking that my virtual life was my life, and contemplating my VR experiences of the previous day, and thinking of the friends I hoped were still online and appointments I had made for the forthcoming day.

Above Prometheus and Queen Jenn.

“Bloodlines” and the initiation of Prometheus.

Prometheus was rather fortunate; within a short time he had married the American Queen of a large Vampire clan, “Queen Jennifer”(not her real SL avatar name, but she had numerous Sl avatars anyway) with an army of sex slaves. However there was another side to Jennifer, as she was not only the dominatrix queen of a major clan, but with another secret avatar, she herself was imprisioned as a caged sex slave in a major BDSM sex sim, and thus she saw into both the worlds of extreme psychological domination and submission; she was both “owned” and enslaved, and an “owner” and a slave mistress. This kind of exploration of different roles is really quite commonplace in the virtual worlds, and I have had numerous friends who behave is rather the same way and who have used multiple avatars to explore different types of relationships. I consider this all to be rather psychologically healthy.

Jennifer and Prometheus would chat for hours every day in voice / video, and in group chat with other gang members as they trawled the virtual world looking for new souls for their clan.

Initiates would have to pledge ownership of their eternal soul to the clan, and to it’s aristocracy. This might seem rather amusing to many, but in America, where the effects of religious indoctrination and hypnosis can be very intense, it was a psychological barrier to many.

Some virtual world residents have avatars which have rather anonymous profiles and they refuse to enter the realm of voice & video chat or group chat. Others have profiles which state that they have “no limits” and that they are willing to endure any experiences which they are put through; with persons like this, they would be put through a gruelling series of psychological tests where their worst nightmares would be manifested; many teleported away in terror or simply logged off, never to be seen again; but to those who endured and made it into the world of group voice chat, they soon realised that behind the terrifying and demonic vampire avatars were actually a group of rather loving and caring people who were forming very real friendships and who would have group discussions of their virtual and real world daily lives.

The Virgin Goddess

“Virgin Goddess,” for example, just to explain how virtual world relationships can cross over from the virtual world to the real world, was a post op TS female whom I met on an adult contact site and who lived not far from me in London. As she spent a great deal of time at home, I suggested that we meet up in the virtual world prior to meeting in the real world.

Thus Lucifer, Venus (my real world partner) and “Virgin” spent many, many hours over days and weeks chatting on the Internet and in Skype voice / video, however while we we were chatting, in the background, our avatars were exploring something else other than just casual flirting; thus we had two relationships; our real world relationship and the fantasy relationship of our minds between Lucifer and the Virgin. This kind of “flirting” is very different to just chatting by email.

Collecting “Lost souls.”

Some individuals, I found, were “lost souls” in the real world; some were disabled, some had no social lives, some were unemployed and had their entire waking hours to pass away, some lived in very isolated regions of the world, some were in unhappy and unfulfilling relationships, some were elderly and found their youth again as a beautiful young avatar, some were sociopathic and could not form relationships even in the virtual world and remained in the impersonal realms of anonymous exploration, and many were simply extremely lonely and were longing for love and to belong to a community of love.

Often I found that the more sexually repressed and celibate the person behind the avatar was, the wilder and more promiscuous they would be in the virtual world. Queen Jennifer herself, for example, who in the real world was a rather eccentric 30 year old American biker girl, existed in a celibate and unhapy marriage with a man twice her age, but in the virtual world, was both a promiscuous dominatrix exploring group sex and the ownership of human souls, and in the world of virtual “slave auctions” would auction herself off to the highest bidder and would have to endure every possible type of humiliation and submission.

Above: my first Island sim (Virtual Reality simulator), The Venus Temple.

The Goddess Venus: beginnings.

I opened my first public sim in 2009, as I wanted a place to begin the process of learning how to build and design in the 3 dimensional world of Second Life. I was already experienced with 3D animation and with video production, filming, editing graphic design and musical soundtrack authoring, production and recording and the thus the attraction of making “machinima” films” and of designing VR (virtual reality) films sets, costumes and characters was instantly appealing. Thus I wanted my own paradise island lair, which would attract the erotically wild, the sexually adventurous, the flamboyant, and the queerer the better.

Venus showing some love at the Temple of Venus.

Above: the demoness Aphrodite shows some love as the goddess Venus watches.

Well, after all one goes to a Temple of Venus to love and worship Venus, does one not?

Worshipping Venus in the Venus temple, was not, needless to say, about worshipping some statue or some invisible sky god; no, it was I as the incarnation of Venus, and who was the object of adoration, and likewise I treated my worshippers as objects of adoration and worship; as love’s sacred children.

Above: Venus being worshipped.

… and what better use for a Temple than the worship of living gods and goddesses, rather than the monotonous ramblings of celibate priests promoting the many “sins of restriction.”

“For I am devoid of sin; incessant love resides in me; my heart is pure; I am Babalon; mistress of the Beast; mistress of all; mistress of love. I am love’s salvation.”

To be continued.

The cast of characters:

Above: Venus Wardark (aka Babalon) in 2010.

Thelemic priestess. Holy Guardian Angel. Scarlet Woman. Mystery Babalon; the Great Mother of Abominations. Keeper of the Holy Grail. Mistress of the Beast. Guardian of the Abyss. Sapiosexual. Bisexual. Transsexual.

“For as thy blood is mingled in the cup of Babalon, so is thine heart the universal heart.”

Above: the goddess Aphrodite Quixote in 2010.

Appears infrequently. Lesbian and Femdom dominatrix mostly; mostly a dark demoness / succubus; though she can appear as is she is a submissive and shy little slave girl.

Above: Hermaphrodite Spiritweaver in 2010.

Hermaphrodite comes fully equipped with swords, guns and, em, nuclear weapons. I should point out that battle sims in the “adult” regions of Second Life are not “wargames;” they are virtual reality sex sims; if you beat your opponent in a fight, the purpose to not to kill or harm the opponent, on the contrary, it is generally to have dominant sex with them; the penalty for losing is erotic submission. It is a win-win situation; it is thus not possible to lose.

Above: Lucifer Starship in 2010.

Well Lucifer needs little introduction. His reputation precedes him. Sex god. Love god. Thelemic Priest. Collector of human souls (“jars of hearts”). Accursed by all religious fanatics. Fallen Angel of Light and Love. Dedicated to rebellion against the “men of god,” and to the love of humankind.

Venus (the Roman equivalent of the Greek Aphrodite) and Lucifer were, of course, in ancient times, the male and female Roman love gods, associated with the planet of Venus; the planet of feminine love. Lucifer appears infrequently as Lucifer Starship; however Venus transforms back and forward between Venus and Lucifer on a daily basis.

Above: Prometheus Nirvana in 2010.

Ex-Vampire. Appears infrequently.

Isis (above) is the most feminine of all the avatars. Angel of light and love. Appears as the archetypal “goddess of beauty,” and poster girl for design promotions.  Mother of Horus; sister and wife of Osirus, whom she ressurected to give birth to the magickal child Horus. Isis was essentially the Egyptian equivalent of the Roman and Greek love goddesses, Venus and Aphrodite.

“You see me (Isis) here, Lucius, in answer to your prayer. I am nature, the universal Mother, mistress of all the elements, primordial child of time, sovereign of all things spiritual, queen of the dead, queen of the ocean, queen also of the immortals, the single manifestation of all gods and goddesses that are.”

From Apuleius’ “The Golden Ass.”

Above: the cast of thousands. The armies of love’s revolution.

In addition to the non-commercial Thelema Abbey sim, Thelema Abbey Designs exists to finance the sims; in 100’s of sales vendors and on SL marketplace Thelema Abbey Designs markets Temple architecture, animated sex beds (for up to 7 avatars), landscaping kits, Gothic avatars and avatar accessories and clothing etc.

Above: one of the old Thelema Abbey Designs shops at the Demonic nightclub in 2010.

Thus I seem to have cloned myself, and there are many others in SL who look like me. I don’t claim to be the best or the most dedicated designer; I simply don’t have the time and am too addicted to the social and erotic aspects of SL.

Although the “Thelema Abbey” Designs sim exists as a commercial sim and a showroom for my creations, the non commecial “Thelema Abbey” sim is not a showrooom; it is rather a film set and a network of Temples for erotic exploration; the various different avatar characters I use are composed not purely of my own designs, but from an inventory of thousands of items from some of SL’s best designers.

The Directors / Producers

Lucifer and Venus in real life. Somerset 2010.

“Beautiful art thou, O Babylon, and desirable, for thou hast given thyself to everything that liveth, and thy weakness hath subdued their strength. For in that union thou didst understand. Therefore art thou called Understanding, O Babylon, Lady of the Night!”

The Original founder of Thelema Abbey, the late Aleister Crowley.

Aeon of Horus 2012.

“Babalon is referred to as the Scarlet Woman, the Great Mother, and the Mother of Abominations. Her godform is that of a sacred whore, and her primary symbol is the Chalice or Graal. Her consort is Chaos, the “Father of Life” and the male form of the Creative Principle. Babalon is often described as being girt with a sword and riding the Beast, with whom Aleister Crowley personally identified. As Aleister Crowley wrote, “She rides astride the Beast; in her left hand she holds the reins, representing the passion which unites them. In her right she holds aloft the cup, the Holy Grail aflame with love and death. In this cup are mingled the elements of the sacrament of the Aeon” (Book of Thoth). In a more general sense, Babalon represents the liberated woman and the full expression of the sexual impulse.”

“Let him look upon the cup whose blood is mingled therein, for the wine of the cup is the blood of the saints. Glory unto the Scarlet Woman, Babalon the Mother of Abominations, that rideth upon the Beast, for she hath spilt their blood in every corner of the earth and lo! she hath mingled it in the cup of her whoredom.
She is considered to be a sacred whore because she denies no one, and yet she extracts a great price — the very blood of the adept and his ego-identity as an earthly individual. This aspect of Babalon is described further from the 12th Aethyr:
This is the Mystery of Babylon, the Mother of Abominations, and this is the mystery of her adulteries, for she hath yielded up herself to everything that liveth, and hath become a partaker in its mystery. And because she hath made her self the servant of each, therefore is she become the mistress of all. Not as yet canst thou comprehend her glory. Beautiful art thou, O Babylon, and desirable, for thou hast given thyself to everything that liveth, and thy weakness hath subdued their strength. For in that union thou didst understand. Therefore art thou called Understanding, O Babylon, Lady of the Night!”

Aleister Crowley, “The Vision and the Voice (12th Aethyr)”

And the ring of the horizon above her is a company of glorious Archangels with joined hands, that stand and sing: This is the daughter of BABALON the Beautiful, that she hath borne unto the Father of All. And unto all hath she borne her.

This is the Daughter of the King. This is the Virgin of Eternity. This is she that the Holy One hath wrested from the Giant Time, and the prize of them that have overcome Space. This is she that is set upon the Throne of Understanding. Holy, Holy, Holy is her name, not to be spoken among men. For Koré they have called her, and Malkuth, and Betulah, and Persephone.

And the poets have feigned songs about her, and the prophets have spoken vain things, and the young men have dreamed vain dreams; but this is she, that immaculate, the name of whose name may not be spoken. Thought cannot pierce the glory that defendeth her, for thought is smitten dead before her presence. Memory is blank, and in the most ancient books of Magick are neither words to conjure her, nor adorations to praise her. Will bends like a reed in the tempests that sweep the borders of her kingdom, and imagination cannot figure so much as one petal of the lilies whereon she standeth in the lake of crystal, in the sea of glass.

This is she that hath bedecked her hair with seven stars, the seven breaths of God that move and thrill its excellence. And she hath tired her hair with seven combs, whereupon are written the seven secret names of God that are not known even of the Angels, or of the Archangels, or of the Leader of the armies of the Lord.

Holy, Holy, Holy art thou, and blessed be Thy name for ever, unto whom the Aeons are but the pulsings of thy blood. “

Aleister Crowley, “The Book of Thoth.”

Edit: November 27th, 2014: Note that the forum, essays section and various other link pages on are currently down. I intend to republish them, and am currently working on rebuilding and editing the pages and essays; however all of the essays anyway can be found on numerous other discussion forums. The Thelema Abbey sim, in the heavens of virtual world, is still open to the public. Babalon still lives in her temple in the heavens.

Argenteum Astrum

I am not a cult leader, nor am I a cult member, and the A.’.A.’. ( Arcanum Arcanorum) is an invisible order whose grand master died in 1947, and which all Thelemites today are, by default, part of.  My kingdom is not of this earth, and I live far above and beyond the earth in the world of human souls,; but I will exert my will upon this earth and I wish only that earth will become heaven and I expect that my inevitable death will not curtail that process. We, who are the Thelemites of the world are legion. Our “hive mind” shall prevail. I demand nothing less than a new heaven and a new earth.

Babalon 2014

By Venus Wardark (Lucifer)

Hello world! A brief Introduction.

Thelema Abbey is a virtual reality sim in the world of Second Life.

This is a verbal and pictorial adventure diary. These are the adventures of the human soul and of human love. These are the adventures of the gods and goddeses who live up in Heaven, far above the wars and the sufferings of mortal men.

In the world of the gods and goddess of the virtual world, there is no sickness nor death nor suffering, and Love is the highest and most sacred law, and there are only other gods and goddesses to love; there are no invisible sky gods.

Many are they who break the law and are cast out of heaven. Narrow is the path to heaven, where reside the gods and goddesses of love, and few are they who find it..

Second Life is not a game, just as love is not a game.

When the mind changes, the world will change. Revolutions begin first in the mind. The final and ultimate revolution in the world must be a revolution of love. When love rules the world, earth shall become heaven. I demand nothing less than a New Heaven and a New Earth.

Heaven is the world of the human mind. It is the birthplace of love.

“Love is the law; Love under will”
